Why do I put myself through this?? Each spring, my neighborhood association has its annual Garage Sale Saturday, this crazy, frenzied day when 100+ households fill their garages and yards up with stuff to sell. One of those homeowners is a realtor. He puts out the HMO newsletter and also organizes this monster sale. It's tomorrow. So here I am blogging at 1:30 in the morning when I have to get up at 5:00 and pull all my junk onto the driveway in the dark for the die-hards who will be driving by before 6am. They will like my house, because Joye (Hummingbird) brought over tons of scrapbooking supplies and a simple wish to make $100. I hope she'll make double that! I also hope to sell a bunch of books, as that $$ goes back to Ian's Chandler High School Band. Me, I just want the unworn clothes out of my closet. Don't make me drag this stuff back into the house or to Goodwill, PLEASE!!! Come by our sale, 6am-noon. You can shop before the Ostara celebration. Oh, and there are FREE lemons also.
Which brings me to the second part of this blog, the spring blossoms. When Hummingbird brought over her scrapbook stuff, we also toured the back yard. I hadn't realized how much we've got goin' on back there until she and I looked carefully. The veggie garden is currently yielding tomatoes, peppers and onions. By next week we'll also have red cabbage. The lemon tree is so burdened with fruit, it actually threw some at Joye as she was picking blossoms for some future spellwork. The orange tree is also in blossom. Between those two and the Texas Mountain laurel's grape-scented flowers, the back yard smells heavenly! And the Lady BAnks rose has rioted over it's wall into the neighbor's yard as well. The plum tree has pink blossoms and the bluebells came back again this year, thank you Goddess Freya. And thank YOU, Joye, for reminding me to take the time to enjoy it all. Blessed be everyone and enjoy Ostara tomorrow. Love you.
