So I have been quiet as of late so lets see if I can make up for that.

First let me throw this in here for Curran. It’s a little poem. Hope you enjoy.

Witches

Round and Round the fire we go

Where they stop only we know

Witches Witches dance in the night

From out of the darkness into the light

Chanting and casting of magical spells

Raising of energy to thwart all ills

Witches Witches dance in the night

From out of the darkness into the light

Calling the watchtowers down to earth

By the Goddesses name we do invoke

Witches Witches dance in the night

From out the darkness into the light

Gnomes and Faeries, the elements too

We Witches We Witches call upon you

Witches Witches dance in the night

From out of the darkness into the light

Pagans and Witches, and Heathens Galore

Peace be with you for evermore

Witches Witches dance in the night

From out of the darkness into the light.

For just a general status of things I have been very busy at work as of late. As of last Friday I received a promotion at work that I have been working very hard for. It is nice to see a recognition of hard work, it really helps me feel good about all the time and energy that I throw at my career.

In about a week I will begin a pretty tough weight lifting regimen so that I can build the physical strength that I need to compete in the highland games. I have some very specific goals for weight amounts that I need to be able to lift by December. If I can hit those goals then I should have no problem doing the events. Over the summer I will be ordering my practice throwing hammers. Those really aren't hammers they are more like shot puts with handles or polls attached to them. So they also range in size and type as well. There are 16lb and 22lb hammers. 28lb and 56lb weights used for height and distance throwing. Then there is the Caber which is 16 to 22 feet long and weights between 100 and 180lbs depending on what class competition you are doing.

I will be in the Amateur class so the Caber will be about 100 - 130lbs. I am also starting Gaelic this week. I have wanted to learn Gaelic for years and I have gotten the Rosetta Stone software after looking at a couple of different options.

On the other side of life, I am working through some health issues with Amy. She is getting treated for a couple of different things and is doing very well. It is exhausting when dealing with the health of  loved one as I am sure many of you can relate to. But all is well and we have a positive outlook and nothing is terminal so it will all be fine.

So for an update to some goals I set at the beginning of the year in a previous blog entry.

Lose 50lbs and train for the highland games: Well I am down 12lbs for the year already so I am 1/4 of the way through the weight and the year so I am right on track. I will be lifting weights to build my strength back up so that I can compete and in September I will begin throwing the weights and I have to figure out how to drive around with a Caber. That should be fun.

As a side goal for this one I have to accomplish the following things in regards to weight lifting. I need to get my bench press to 350 - 400 lbs. My arm curls will need to be 175 - 200lbs, 125lbs for a single arm curl. And last but not least 600lbs in squats. Yes that is a lot of weight but I know I can do it.

Completely my psychology degree: Almost done. Finishing Masters Thesis and then will write my doctoral dissertation. All in all I should be done by end of may.

Get some certifications: Well I just got a promotion at work that I have been really trying hard to get. WOOHOO. The certifications will come next. I have to pick up the swing of things with the new responsibilities but I should be able to start some by June.

Dedicate time to my Spiritual Work. I am reading through the Inner Temple right now and loving it.

All in all things are good.

So hows that for an update? A little long winded? Maybe. But hey, its my blog.

Blessed Be

Wookie

Re: Ask and Ye Shall Receive

Congratulations on the promotion! And on the weight loss. And on the progress on your thesis. And on the other goal progressions and learning Gaelic. Sounds like you have a very busy year ahead of you. But it's all fun stuff (well, maybe not the thesis...) so I'm sure you'll get it all done. Stay in touch! Love ya.

Re: Ask and Ye Shall Receive

Congrats on the promotion! Might I suggest lots on Manwich to subsidies your protein intake. Good to see life is keeping you busy and moving ever forward.
